Pablo Milanés Receives Latin Grammy to Musical Excellence

Havana, Cuba - Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés, founder of the New Song Movement together with Silvio Rodríguez and Noel Nicola, received on Wednesday a Latin Grammy Award to musical excellence from the Latin Recording Academy, for his important contributions in the field of music.
During the awards ceremony, held on Wednesday in Las Vegas, U.S.A., the legendary troubadour, the author of more than 40 albums and of memorable songs like Yolanda and El breve espacio en que no estás, received the award along with other prominent figures of the Ibero-American scene: Spanish Ana Belen and Victor Manuel, Puerto Rico's El Gran Combo, Dominican Angela Carrasco, Brazilian Djavan, Argentinean saxophonist Gato Barbieri, Chilean producer Humberto Gatica, and Venezuelan composer Chelique Sarabi, the Granma newspaper reported on Thursday.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
