
Moscow - Cuban fighter against terrorism, Antonio Guerrero, criticized today the U.S. sanctions and its allies against Russia, during a meeting with Guennady Ziuganov, leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) in the State Duma (Lower House).
During the meeting with the president of the second political force of the Eurasian state, the hero of the Republic of Cuba deplored the siege the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) plans to build around Russia to the detriment of world peace.
Guerrero, along with Gerardo Hernandez and Ramon Labañino, returned to Cuba on December 17, 2014, after serving more than three decades of confinement, for trying to prevent violent actions against his country.
Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez, members of the group known worldwide as the Cuban Five, had previously returned to the island, after completing their sentences.
I come as a humble friend of Russia to thank on behalf of my brothers of cause and our families the permanent solidarity of the Communists and all this people, to achieve our liberation, Guerrero said.
During the meeting, in which First Deputy Chairman of the Duma, Ivan Melnikov, and Cuban ambassador to Russia, Emilio Lozada, attended, Guerrero considered a proud to meet with the leader of the Russian Communists.
The Soviet Union and Russia collaborated a lot with the Cuban Revolution, and during the five years of imprisonment, the Cuban Five were inspired a lot in the example of this people in its resistance against fascism in the World War II, he said.
The visitor recalled his days he spent as a student in the Soviet Union, where he was preparing as an airport construction specialized in civil engineer of airports, and reiterated his gratitude to the permanent solidarity of the Russian people, before signing books he gave Ziuganov.
As a culmination of the the meeting, the head of the CPRF fraction in the State Duma bestowed Guerrero the medal of that organization, and said that recognition was granted him due to his sacrifice on behalf of his people and resistance in the toughest conditions.
