Russian Activists Reiterate Commitment vs. Blockade to Cuba

Moscow - The Russian social movement Venceremos ratified today here the commitment to redouble the fight against the U.S economic, commercial and financial blockade, during a meeting with Antonio Guerrero, Hero of the Republic of Cuba.
Gathered with the Cuban fighter against terrorism who served more than 15 years in prison in the northern country, for trying to prevent violent actions against the island, the activists said they will also demand the closure of the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo.
We will continue our protests outside the U.S. embassy every day 5 of each month until the illegally occupied territory is returned to the people of Cuba, said Anatoly Lachin, leader of the organization, during the meeting to which Havana ambassador to Moscow, Emilio Lozada, also attended.
Guerrero, along with Gerardo Hernandez and Ramon Labañino, returned to Cuba on December 17, 2014, after serving more than three decades of confinement, for trying to prevent violent actions against his country.
Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez, members of the group known worldwide as the Cuban Five, had previously returned to the island, after completing their sentences.
During the years of struggle for the release of the members of this group, Venceremos established the tradition of protesting the fifth day of each month in front of the WashingtonâÖs legation in Moscow, an action that invariably ends with the delivery of a written request signed by the demonstrators.
On the other hand, Guerrero thanked the solidarity received on behalf of the Cuban Five, as they are known worldwide, and answered questions from dozens of attendees to the meeting at the Cuban embassy.
We have a cause to live for, and Venceremos´ example inspires us to devote ourselves henceforth to continue the battle for a better world, concluded Guerrero on behalf of his four brothers of cause, to whom he promised to report on the love and solidarity by the Russian activists.
