Gerardo Hernandez estimated positive approach Cuba-USA

The Cuban antiterrorist fighter Gerardo Hernandez, who is on a visit in Berlin, Germany, Tuesday considered this positive balance of rapprochement between the United States and Havana.
"We are optimistic us with this process of rapprochement between the two countries, but we must recognize that this is a cautious optimism," he said in an interview with Prensa Latina.
According to the Hero of the Republic of Cuba, we must be aware that imperialism is not going to disappear just because now sign agreement on diplomatic relations.
On the one hand, he added, there is a good part of the American people will see this process with a legitimate interest to improve relations to enable a rapprochement between our peoples.
"But it is also true that there are very powerful sectors in the United States who see the opportunity to get what they have been unable to achieve during 50 years of aggressions and pressures: destroy the Cuban Revolution," he said.
Hernandez is one of the anti-terrorist Cubans were arrested in Miami in 1998 for monitoring extremist groups planning action against the Caribbean island, and then convicted in a trial marked by irregularities, as then recognized prestigious international jurists.
During his stay in Berlin accompanied by Cuban Deputy Alpidio Alonso, the anti-terrorism met with the caucus of the Left Party (Die Linke) in the German parliament.
This parliamentary group for many years supported the international campaign for the release of The Five, a move that involved dozens of countries worldwide.
"History has shown that you, by participating in this fight, were on the right side and they were right," he said in conversation with lawmakers.
In response to a question from Socialist deputy Diether Dehm over the long time spent in prison, Hernandez said he has "hatred and bitterness."
"If it were so, the others had already won," he added in reference to the United States.
Meanwhile, the vice president of the bed of Die Linke, Heike Haensel, called the release of the five as an important victory for international solidarity movement.
"This case demonstrates the importance of international solidarity, we should also remember other situations," Haensel, who cited examples such as the struggle of the Kurdish people in Turkey and the campaign for the liberation of Palestine, said.
For his part, Deputy Alpidio Alonso expressed the hope that "the European states are free from American influence."
He should not forget he added at the meeting in German- parliament that the current rapprochement between Havana and Washington was only possible by the constant struggle and resistance of the Cuban people.
During his stay in Germany, Alonso Hernandez and participated in several events such as Rosa Luxembourg annual international conference and a meeting with representatives of parties and organizations of the left, including the Communist Party.
In one of these appointments at the headquarters of the socialist daily Neues Deutschland (New Germany), Hernandez thanked the solidarity movement activists for their commitment over several years. "Being here with the German Network of Solidarity with Cuba, which brings together various groups, he encouraged my hope because it shows the unity we so desperately need," he said.
Meanwhile, Harri Gruenberg, president of the alliance of more than 40 moves, said that with the release of the five has completed a stage of labor solidarity.
"Now it comes to fighting for the end of the US blockade against Cuba and the so-called Common Position of the European Union," he said.
Another goal of international solidarity should be the support of the Cuban demand that Washington return the territory occupied in Guantánamo, he added.
