Rio 2016 Worried by Zika, But Not Seeing Drop in Olympics Travel

Brasilia - The Organizing Committee of Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics express today its wories for the appearance of the Zika virus in Brazil, which affected 1.5 million poeple between Oct. 2015 and January this year in that country.
The Rio 2016 organizing committee is worried about the rapid spread of the Zika virus in Brazil, but has not yet seen evidence of people cancelling travel to the Olympics in August and it has not affected the calendar of activities programed, communications director Mario Andrada said today.
The organizing committee will follow travel guidelines issued by the World Health Organization (WHO), he added.
At the international level Zika is in 21 countries in South America, 10 in Asia, África and the Pacífic,but nevertheless Brazil is seen as a worry because is center to the posible transmission of the virus. In Brazil Zika is present in 22 of the 26 states of the country.
