Cuba Still Alive in Caribbean Series Baseball

Santo Domingo - The Tigers of Ciego de Avila, Cuba champion, defeated today the Dominican team 4x2 Leones del Escogido winning its ticket to the semifinals of the Caribbean Series-2016.

Ciego de Avila, defending the title won by Vegueros of Pinar del Rio in San Juan-2015 here, reached the victory after 11 innings of a match that started at 20:30 (local time) on Friday.

A hit by Jose Adolis Garcia, bases loaded, produced the two defining points, scored by Yosvani Alarcon and Guillermo Avilés.

With this victory, the team of Roger Machado eliminated the hosts from the tournament, who lost three consecutive matches in extra innings.

Cuban will face today Venados of Mazatlan, in Mexico, in the main match of the semifinal date, which begins with the game between Aragua Tigers (Venezuela) and Cangrejeros of Santurce (Puerto Rico).
