Tuberculosis

In Cuba monitoring, prevention and treatment are applied to eliminate tuberculosis with the condition that it is a preventable and curable disease. In Ariguanabo inquiries are carried out on vulnerable groups, from the doctor and nurse clinic.

Tuberculosis is a disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Koch bacillus, which attacks the lungs. It is transmitted from person to person through the air, therefore the importance of seeking medical attention at the first signs through early detection and treatment to prevent other people acquire the disease.

We must remember that among preventive measures, the most important way to prevent the spread is that the patient's mouth and nose are covered when coughing and to meet the treatment prescribed by the physician.

The cuban health system guarantees the application and reactivation of several vaccines. Cuba has achievements in public health, so the World Health Organization WHO included our Island for the implementation of control programs, prevention and treatment of the disease, which will eliminate TB by 2035.

Despite the political will of the Cuban government, the population needs to raise the  risk perception, so personal hygiene, ventilation of the rooms, allowing the entry of air and sun, and treatment through the diagnosis made by a specialist, demonstrate accountability in the presence of this disease, which is a constant threat in our lives.
