Rolling Stones Concert in Cuba, Unprecedented Show

Havana - The Rolling Stones dazzled a crowd of over half a million persons in Havana, an unprecedented show in this country, that still today celebrates the free concert of the mythical British band.

The grounds of Sports City was too small for the multitude that overflowed to the near-by streets and even climbed to the roof of the houses to chorus themes like Jumping Jack flash, Midnight Rambler and Gimme Shelter.

"What a fantastic audience", exclaimed Jagger and the crowd went wild. We are having a great time here in Havana, and the audience went into a frenzy.

"Thanks Cuba for all the music you have given the world", expressed the band leader, who spoke an excellent Spanish during the whole concert.

He dedicated Angie, one of its most melodic themes to "romantic Cuban" and after displaying a high dose of melancholy with Miss You, Jagger assured the huge crowd they were "fantastic singers".

He also shared he had eaten rice and beans and he liked it, but the best part was having danced a Cuban rumba at the House of Music, he confessed.

In Out of Control, Jagger took the melody out of his philarmonica and togetjher with Keith Richard at the guitar showed the power of this duet, that, so they say, don´t get along so well out of stage. Here are the Rolling Stones, this is incredible, shouted Keith Richards and together with Ronnie Woods sang You Got the Silver, the first theme recorded by the Rolling in which interprets the exclusive solo voice.

In Sympathy for the Devil, Jagger appeared on the stage with a red feathery cape to display all his "wickedness" aided by the spectacular lights combination. "You really are in size", (referring to a popular Cuban saying) when he concluded.

If the solos of Richards and Woods dazzled the attendants to the Concert of Friendship when listening to them for the first time live, the frenetic wiggles of Jagger on stage- on the verge of convulsions- put everyone to dance.

The Entrevoces Choir was the only Cuban group who accompanied the Stones on You Can´t Always Get What you Want, while thousands joined the choir.

Cuba, Cuba, Cuba repeated the crowd, who traveled from different parts of the island, and also arrived from other countries, including show-business celebrities like Richard Gere and Naomi Campbell.

Satisfaction wrung the last energy of band and audience in an apotheosic closing. "We know that years ago it was difficult to listen to our music in Cuba, but we are here playing for you in your beautiful land."
