Cultivation of spirituality through culture

San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba - The development of socio-cultural activities in the ariguanabense territory contributes to the spiritual enrichment of the population.
San Antonio de los Baños has socio-cultural activities of great popular acceptance, as expressed Yuniesky Pelier Palacios, Municipal Director of Culture. He added that the territory has within the amateur artists movement lyrical genre fans, thanks to the work of the tenor Rodolfo Chacon, promoter of an intense work; trainning performers of different musical genres, mainly the lyrical with representatives in ''Havana Classic'', who are top professionals.
Pelier noted that the presentations of Chacon's students in galas and shows mark the quality of the performances from the inclusion of national and international repertoire. He said that they are recognized within the ariguanabense artistic potential.
He stated that the alternative music club ''River Sound'' is done in the Humor Park, sponsored by ''Hermanos Saiz'' Association. It responds to tastes and preferences of the followers of varied musical repertoire, interested in new sonorities in correspondence with the socio-cultural development of the century. In this proposal video art, visual arts and dance interact contributing to the development of music.
Added Pelier that during the culture week, the Provincial Center of Visual Arts ''Eduardo Abela'' promotes the Festival ''Infinite Island'', which exhibits the work of visual artists that recreate landscapes and landmarks of our territory and it allows enhancing the visual arts.

Havana - Cuban intellectual Abel Prieto was appointed president of Casa de las Américas, the center's website La Ventana reported today.
Prieto, former minister of Culture and currently serving as director of the Marti Program Office and president of the José Martí Cultural Society, was nominated for the post by Alpidio Alonso, current Culture Minister.
