For a healthy feeding

Urban and Suburban Agriculture is a strong agricultural movement that takes place in the cities and in the towns, also has its own characteristics that differentiate it from conventional agriculture or large areas, such as; its diversity and the number of stakeholders involved in their development. It is necessary an alternative, an effective solution to increase the availability of agricultural products to the population.
In San Antonio de los Baños, interesting results were obtained in this area. A greater production of diverse, fresh and healthy food is guaranteed. Fruit farms, semi-protected organic farms, intensive orchards and family yards are some of the ways to deliver fruit, spices, medicinal plants and several crops to different sale places for social consumption of the municipality.
In various tours of the National Group of Urban, Suburban and Family Agriculture, Ariguanabo remained between the first and third place in 2015. Credit and service cooperatives, Marti Forest, Alemán Brothers’ Courtyard, Fidel Muñoz’ Farm, Miniindustry "The Cuban" have ratified their reference or national excellence conditions.
I think this demonstrates the joint work of producers and industry executives. Continue strengthening should be a priority for this area taking into account the multiple benefits for families, access and quality of foods marketed. It also contributes to reforestation, improve the microclimate, nutrient recycling, water management, biodiversity, and reduces energy requiring less transportation.
