Cuba Is a Big Country of World Prestige, French Writer Says

Paris - Cuba is a small country in size and big in world prestige, Jose Fort, who for several years worked as a correspondent in Havana of French newspaper L''Humanite, said here.

Cuba is an example of resistance against the arrogance of the first power of the world, the United States, and the blockade that northern country has imposed it, he said during the presentation of his book "Treinta años de Humanite, todo lo que no he tenido tiempo de decir." Fort emphasized that the blockade should be immediately and unconditionally lifted. He also referred to the solidarity of the island with other peoples of the world.

The book depicts stories and anecdotes about his meetings with figures such as Fidel Castro, Nelson Mandela and Yasser Arafat.

The idea of writing it emerged during talks with a great friend of Cuba: cartoonist Georges Wolinski, one of those killed in the January 2015 attacks against the offices of French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo.

I mean with this book that the struggle for freedom is essential, there are some people who fought and are still fighting. I think of Evo Morales, Rafael Correa, Hugo Chavez, our Cuban brothers, and Fidel and Raul Castro, who are examples for all, Fort told Prensa Latina.

Andre Chassaigne, president of the France-Cuba Friendship Group of the National Assembly; members of the Cuba Si France association; and officials from Latin American diplomatic missions in this country, participated in the meeting, held at the Cuban embassy in France.
