On the roads of science

Artemisa, Cuba - With the title “On the roads of science” was held the provincial event that hosted a delegation of all primary centers of the 11 municipalities of the province of Artemisa.
This event was held with the objective of test the usefulness of the science labs in the elementary education.
Some of the issues debated during the event were the reflection of light and colors, the composition of the cell and the use of the back to study the anatomical parts of the body.
The primary school Julio Antonio Mella of the capital municipality hosted the meeting; in the event participated only 2 students per municipality, explained Esperanza Sánchez Prieto provincial head of the subject Natural Sciences.
At the end of the event were recognized the winners but also all the students in general and their professors. The most outstanding municipalities were Güira de Melena, Candelaria, Mariel, San Cristóbal, Caimito and San Antonio de los Baños.

Havana - Cuban intellectual Abel Prieto was appointed president of Casa de las Américas, the center's website La Ventana reported today.
Prieto, former minister of Culture and currently serving as director of the Marti Program Office and president of the José Martí Cultural Society, was nominated for the post by Alpidio Alonso, current Culture Minister.
