Havana, Cuba - The final session of the 7th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) began in this capital, attended by the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, and Army General Raul Castro, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the PCC.

A volley of applause greeted Fidel in the plenary hall of Havana's Convention Center, where delegates, standing, chorused "Fidel! Fidel! Fidel!"

Sportily dressed, Fidel greeted delegates and guests, moments before the closing of the most important political event in the country.

The 7th Congress end today after a long preparatory process that lasted more than a year since it began in grassroots organizations and reviewed the implementation of the economic and social guidelines of the nation.

A total of 21 percent of the guidelines adopted at the Sixth Congress have been fully implemented, implying the approval of 130 policies and the adoption of 344 new legal norms of different levels, changes in 55 and the repeal of 684.

For three days, the nearly one thousand delegates and 280 guests present reached a consensus on the main documents and resolutions of the four working committees, and in plenary session, participants approved on Monday a resolution on the Central Report presented at the opening session by Army General Raul Castro.
