Paris - The Cuban culture will have in May a special place in France with the holding of an initiative that will show to the French public the richness and diversity of the Caribbean nation in that sector.
The month of the Cuban culture in France and the month of French culture in the Caribbean island is an initiative whose main objective is to strengthen bilateral ties through this area, the island's ambassador to this country, Hector Igarza, told Prensa Latina today.
Culture has historically been a sector that united the two countries. Although there were ups and downs in the political and economic relations, culturally, there was always a very close relationship, he said.
Igarza said this event was jointly announced and promoted by President, Raul Castro Ruz and French Head of State, François Hollande, during "the latter's trip to our country in May 2015 and the visit by the Cuban president to France in February 2016."
The activities that will take place in the Caribbean island coincide in time with the French Film Festival taking place in May each year. Chanel, the avant-garde French fashion company worldwide, also expects to present its first parade, among other actions.
This event will be, without doubt, a unique opportunity to show the French public a fragment of the best and most representative of the broad cultural heritage of the Caribbean nation, a statement released by the Cuban embassy in this European nation states.
