International brigades will participate in the parade on May 1 in Cuba
Artemisa, Cuba - Two foreign brigades which will stay at the International Camp Julio Antonio Mella, CIJAM, in the municipality of Caimito, in the province of Artemisa, will participate in the parade on May 1 in our country.
According to the information given by Raúl Abreu Chávez, director of this center of solidarity with the world, from April 25th to May 9th they will host the Brigade “1ro de Mayo” (May 1) composed of 242 friends of Cuba from 34 countries from all continents.
He also said that on Saturday April 30th will arrive to the CIJAM the XXIV Brigade “Ernesto Ché Guevara” with 32 participants coming from Canada.
Both groups are going to participate in the celebrations for the World Day of the proletariat, but also have planned other activities in Cuba such as the participation in agricultural works, meetings in neighborhoods, talks with members of political and mass organizations of the country and they may perceive with their own eyes the current Cuban reality, worthy of recognition in all over the world.

Havana - Cuban intellectual Abel Prieto was appointed president of Casa de las Américas, the center's website La Ventana reported today.
Prieto, former minister of Culture and currently serving as director of the Marti Program Office and president of the José Martí Cultural Society, was nominated for the post by Alpidio Alonso, current Culture Minister.
