Venezuelan Workers Reaffirm Support for Bolivarian Revolution

Caracas - The Venezuelan working class on Sunday reaffirmed its commitment to defending the Bolivarian Revolution against the attacks by national right-wing sectors with foreign support.

According to Wills Rangel, president of the Bolivarian Socialist Union of Workers, only the transformation process started in 1999 by President Hugo Chavez (1954-2013) ensures the protection of the people's rights and the continuity of social claims.

One of the greatest achievements of the Venezuelan people came from the enactment of the Organic Labor Law four years ago, Labor Minister Oswaldo Vera said.

Threatened by the right wing, now a majority at the National Assembly, that law is based on nearly some 20,000 proposals by workers in more than 1,200 assemblies.

After calling on the people on Saturday to join this May Day, International Workers' Day, to the demonstration at a central square in Caracas, President Nicolas Maduro urged to further promote that legal instrument that the opposition is trying to eliminate.

According to the president, the excessive attacks by the imperial power aim to regain political dominance and continue oppressing the Venezuelan people, they would, as a result of the Bolivarian Revolution, move forward in peace and sovereignty, towards a fairer and inclusive society.

Amid this economic war, we seek resources to protect wage, a battle that is difficult, but it is being waged without relying on Washington or the formulas from the International Monetary Fund or the rightist Venezuelan Federation of Chambers and Associations of Commerce and Production (FEDECAMARAS), Maduro said.
