A few hours before the celebrations for the workers ´day, José Antonio Valeriano, member of the Central Committee and First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in the province of Artemisa, conferred the medals Jesús Menéndez and Hazaña Laborar, respectively, to the nurses Regla Montalvo and Elsa Castillo in the library Ciro Redondo of Artemisa.

Montalvo, labor union leader for more than 30 years, works in the polyclinic Eduardo Díaz in the municipality of Guanajay and exhibits positive results in serving the people; while Castillo works at the Provincial Hospital Ciro Redondo and was member of the health brigade that fought Ebola in West Africa.

Eduardo Antonio Chiong, secretary general of the CTC in Artemisa, also honored a group of labor union leaders for five to ten years devoted to the exercise of their responsibilities.

On behalf of the guests of honor, Elsa Castillo expressed gratitude and pride for the distinction, and recalled that, thanks to the skills acquired in our country, could face the risky pandemic.
