Galas for Delivering National Music Award in Cuba

Havana -The Cuban singer Beatriz Márquez and composer and conductor Guido López receive today the 2015 National Music Award in different cities: Havana and Santiago de Cuba.

The gala of this year will have two head offices: the Covarrubias Room of the National Theater in the Cuban capital where the award will be delivered to Márquez also in the Dolores Room in Santiago de cuba,it will be given to López-Gávilan.

According to the record of the jury,of December last year, these artists deserved the award for their important contributions to the sonorous musical identity of the island.

The jury was presided by the director of the National Choir of Cuba, Digna Guerra, and also by the musicians Sergio Vitier, César Pupy Pedroso, Juan Piñera and Adalberto Álvarez, who emphasized in both the construction of a solid work and relevancy for the country.

Beatriz Márquez (Havana, 1952) stands out among the most excellent Cuban song performers, in her long trajectory, she made incursions successfully in trends like bolero, the feeling and love songs.

After more than five decades of career she has collaborated with prestigious figures of the national stave, such as Juan Formell, and has released more than 40 engraved CDs.

López-Gavilan (Matanzas, 1944) is one of the composers and most noticeable orchestra conductors in the Cuban music panorama.

In his résumé, he emphasizes the leadership that he exercised at head of the group Musica Eterna and his work along with the Symphonic National Orchestra, in which he has been the guest director.
