Cuban Parliament President Talks to Chinese Delegation Members

Havana - Esteban Lazo, president of the Cuban People''s Power National Assembly (National Parliament) met a Chinese delegation Monday, headed by Fu Ying, president of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Chinese National Assembly.
During the meeting, both parts had a wide exchange on the functioning and structure of their respective parliaments and the dynamics of the legislative work. They also talked about foreign investment, economy and elements of the international situation in general.
Ana Mari Machado, vicepresident of the Cuban Parliament, and present in the meeting, talked about the updating of the Cuban economic and social model, and how dynamic this is for the Cuban legislative activity.
"This guarantees sustainability and prosperity, without leaving the Cuban Socialist model,"
Lazo stated the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US to the Caribbean island is one of the main difficulties to make any kind of progress.
Fu Ying spoke about the progress of China in different fields, the challenges they are facing, and regarded the Cuban updating process as very interesting.
The Chinese delegation will be in Cuba up to May 18.
