ITU Acknowledges Cuba''s Prestige in the Radio Communication Sector

Geneva - François Rancy, director of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), has acknowledged Cuba''s prestige in terms of radio communications.
During a meeting with Cuban First Deputy Communications Minister, Jorge Luis Perdomo, Rancy praised the Caribbean island's active participation in the work of ITU, diplomatic sources report.
He also reaffirmed the interest and commitment of the Union to strengthening exchange and cooperation with the Caribbean nation in its many fields of competence.
Perdomo, who leads Cuba's delegation to the ITU Council in session in Geneva, discussed issues of common interest, among which are those related to the monitoring of agreements reached within the framework of the World Radio Communication Conference held in November 2015. In particular, he referred to improvements in the use of radio-electric spectrum.
The official stressed the sovereignty of Cuban radio-electric space and discussed the issue of the transition to digital television broadcasting in the country.
