Was assessed the progress of the economy in Artemisa

Artemisa, Cuba - The member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and its first secretary in the province of Artemisa, José Antonio Valeriano Fariñas, called for a greater control and discipline about the economic indicators.
During the provincial plenary that assessed the progress of the economy in the first quarter of the year, was known about the failures in the production plans of 6 state companies, among them Road Maintenance and Public Transportation.
The investment process and the collection of fines are other indicators with certain delays in the province, according to the information from the economic analysis made with the participation of the administrative managements, government and the Business Group of the territory.
José Antonio Valeriano, stressed the importance of make with high rigor the conception and realization of the different economic plans, to avoid the losses reported in companies as the Tobacco Company Lázaro Peña and the Grain Company of the municipality of Candelaria.

Havana - Cuban intellectual Abel Prieto was appointed president of Casa de las Américas, the center's website La Ventana reported today.
Prieto, former minister of Culture and currently serving as director of the Marti Program Office and president of the José Martí Cultural Society, was nominated for the post by Alpidio Alonso, current Culture Minister.
