Cuban Minister of Agriculture Tours Iowa,US

Washington - Cuban Agriculture Minister Gustavo Rodriguez, continues today with a tour of production facilities and agricultural research in Iowa, where he will hold an official meeting with his US counterpart, Thomas Vilsack.
As part of the program of a visit to the United States, Rodriguez filled in since yesterday an invitation Vilsack, who on his first day included meetings with Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Michael Scuse, and Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker.
The day before, the Cuban minister of Agriculture visited the United States Chamber of Commerce, where he offered an explanation of the current situation of the agricultural sector in the Caribbean island.
He also met with Carlos Gutierrez, chairman of the US-Cuba Business, with whom he discussed issues of bilateral interest, and was present in an exchange with managers of the Rice Federation of the northern nation.
Rodriguez heads a delegation composed also by officials of the Cuban ministries of Agriculture, Science, Technology and Environment, Foreign Affairs, and the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources.
