Havana Hosts Regional Workshop for Women with Disabilities

Havana - Representatives from 12 Latin America and Caribbean countries are participating in the First Regional Seminar-Workshop of Women Leaders with Disabilities, starting today and terminating on Friday in Havana.
The event will help develop tools for the empowerment of women with disabilities and programs to defend their right to equality.
Under discussion is the leadership of women with disabilities and the violence and discrimination to which they may be subject.
Also being discussed are rights to maternity leave and care, sexuality and the problems this sector of the population faces in rural areas, indigenous communities, among the displaced and in situations of conflict.
Representatives of prestigious organizations and institutions related to the areas being promoted are attending the event.
Organizers have stated that the First Regional Seminar-Workshop of Women Leaders with Disabilities is one of the programs of the strategic plan adopted in Havana in April 2015.

The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
