A Land of Many Heroes

As part of the celebrations for the 55th anniversary of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) in our province, some workers especially received the Distinguished Service Medal: Lt. Col. Rolando Merida, Captain Omar Rivera, Lt. Col. Scurel Triana, Lt. Alejandro Luis, captain Yanquiel Fernandez and first Lieutenant Yoan Santana.
A group of chiefs, officers and soldiers were promoted to the next grade and likewise other colleagues received the Medal for 10, 15 and 20 years of service. It is a recognition for the good results of those who ensure the safety and quietness of the Cuban people.
Young Yaniuska Mendez spoke on behalf of the promoted officials "before these persons, I feel that daily heroic actions are a proof that the future of the revolutionary process, is safe. In every place of this island people are willing to face what endangers this effort. "
In the cultural complex of the Provincial Delegation of MININT, men and women of the Ministry ratified once again the existence of many heroes in this land, worthy heirs of the lineage of Che, Fidel and Raul.
The political ceremony was presided over by Angela Diaz Fuentes, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Party; Colonel Ramon Alberto Cordero, deputy chief of the Interior Ministry in the territory, and other leaders of political and mass organizations.

Prieto, former minister of Culture and currently serving as director of the Marti Program Office and president of the José Martí Cultural Society, was nominated for the post by Alpidio Alonso, current Culture Minister.
