Artemisa fulfilled the production of refined sugar

Artemisa, Cuba - Last weekend the sugar mill 30 de Noviembre, located in the municipality of San Cristobal, became the first in the country to fulfilled the plan of refined sugar when it achieved the 34 000 tons planned for the sugar harvest 2015-2016 and will produce another 3 000 to send to the Havana City.
According to Armando Rodriguez, head of the Group of Sugar Technology of the AZCUBA Business Group, the contribution of sugar from the Artemisa will reduce costs for transportation from other provinces to the capital.
The sugar mill of San Cristóbal next harvest should begin in the first half of November and plans to mill more than 900 000 tons of sugarcane.

Havana - Cuban intellectual Abel Prieto was appointed president of Casa de las Américas, the center's website La Ventana reported today.
Prieto, former minister of Culture and currently serving as director of the Marti Program Office and president of the José Martí Cultural Society, was nominated for the post by Alpidio Alonso, current Culture Minister.
