Artemisa boosts its production of citrus and fruits

Artemisa, Cuba – Recover the areas planted with oranges, grapefruit, tangerines and lemons and develop the integral farms for the harvest of several kinds of fruits, are two fundamental strategies in which are working the Company Cítricos Ceiba in the province of Artemisa.
After demolished the affected plantations for more than 12 years for the disease known as Yellow Dragon now have been rescued at about 200 hectares of them, working in a progressive program that aims to reach 3 000 hectares.
In the Company Cítricos Ceiba in Artemisa, were also created at about 63 integral fruits farms, planted with mango, avocado and papaya.
The aspiration of all workers of this company is to produce this year at about 4100 tons of hot pepper, avocado, mango and other products for export to Canada, France, UK and the Netherlands.

Havana - Cuban intellectual Abel Prieto was appointed president of Casa de las Américas, the center's website La Ventana reported today.
Prieto, former minister of Culture and currently serving as director of the Marti Program Office and president of the José Martí Cultural Society, was nominated for the post by Alpidio Alonso, current Culture Minister.
