Raúl receives leaders attending signing of Colombian Peace Agreements

Army General Raúl Castro, President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, and Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez received leaders attending the signing of Colombian Peace Agreements
Everything is set for the signing ceremony of agreements on a bilateral and final ceasefire between the Colombian government and FARC-EP. Army General Raúl Castro, President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, and Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez received leaders attending the event.
Various leaders are currently in Havana, here to participate in the historic event, including the Presidents of El Salvador, Salvador Sánchez Cerén, and the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, CELAC president pro tempore.
Also attending the ceremony are Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and Chilean President, Michelle Bachelet, whose nations are accompanying the peace process.
Special guest, UN Secretary Genral Ban Ki-Moon will also be present at the signing.
All participants were received by Army General, Raúl Castro.

The Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) issued a statement on Tuesday rejecting recent remarks by Peruvian-Spanish writer Mario Vargas Llosa, in which he blamed social outbreaks in the continent on Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua and promoted an internal uprising in Cuba.

Havana - Cuban intellectual Abel Prieto was appointed president of Casa de las Américas, the center's website La Ventana reported today.
Prieto, former minister of Culture and currently serving as director of the Marti Program Office and president of the José Martí Cultural Society, was nominated for the post by Alpidio Alonso, current Culture Minister.
