Cuba Reiterates Solidarity with Palestinian Cause, Calls for Peace

Geneva - Cuba urged here to achieve the final, just and lasting peace for all peoples in the Middle East, stressing that the Palestinian cause can no longer be ignored in this context.
Speaking at the United Nations International Conference in Support of Israeli-Palestinian Peace, Anayansi Rodriguez, Cuban permanent representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, stated that the island has recognized the efforts carried out so far on initiatives aimed at resolving this situation.
Cuba has reiterated at the same time that a truly viable and sustainable solution should include the end of the Israeli occupation, promote the peaceful coexistence of two independent States, on the basis of the establishment of the sovereign State of Palestine, with capital in East Jerusalem and according to the pre-1967 borders, as well as a just solution to the problem of Palestinian refugees, she said.
We express our full support to the right of the State of Palestine to become a full member of the United Nations and deplore that this wish remains hampered by Israel's allies with their silence and complicity attitude, guarantee impunity of the former and the persistence of status that is unacceptable, she said.
The historic debt with the Palestinian people is enormous and should be repaid. The international community is the responsible for taking concrete and immediate actions to put an end to such prolonged injustice, she said.
Achieving the cessation of conflicts and peacekeeping require solidarity, cooperation and the renewed and systematic international assistance from the United Nations and all its State members, she said.
The Cuban representative stressed that the occupying power, Israel, should demand in this case the recognition of the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the State of Palestine .
My delegation once again reiterates its strong condemnation of the Israeli colonization campaign in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and all measures, policies and practices associated with that campaign, which violate international law, international humanitarian law and the UN resolutions, she stressed.
