Cabrisas Meets with Minister of Finance of Slovak Republic

Havana, Cuba - The Vice-president of the Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas, received the Minister of Finance of the Slovak Republic, Peter Kazimir, who is on an official visit to Cuba.

During the meeting, held on Wednesday morning, the two parties described bilateral relations as positive. The implementation of the agreements signed during the visit of Prime Minister Robert Fico to Havana in October 2015 was assessed as well as of those signed by Vice-president Cabrisas in Bratislava in February 2016.

At the same time, the mutual willingness to continue working to strengthen economic-commercial relations and investment and cooperation was verified.

Representing Slovakia at the meeting were the Minister of Health, Tomaš Drucker and the Ambassador to Havana, Ladislav Straka, and other officials of the diplomatic mission accredited in Cuba.

The two leaders presided over the signing ceremony of the Banking Technical Agreement between the National Bank of Cuba and the VUB - Bank of Slovak credit for the financing of the renovation of Block 6 of the Thermoelectric plant of Mariel and the Memorandum of Understanding between Azcuba and the Slovak company Enviral to start partnership talks for the construction project of a power block with sugarcane biomass.

The Slovak delegation has completed an intensive program of exchanges with the Ministries of Finance and Prices, Public Health, Foreign Trade and Investment, as well as the Central Bank of Cuba, among other Cuban institutions.

Representing Cuba at the meeting were Raul Garcia, first deputy minister of the Ministry of Energy and Mines; Oberto Santin, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Higher Education; Rene Lazo, President of the National Bank of Cuba; Elio Rodriguez, director for Europe and Canada at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Lourdes Garrido Alvarez, Director General of the Ministry of Finance and Prices, among other officials.
