Artemisa, Cuba - In the municipality of Alquizar the health programs promoters intensify actions to improve the health programs and to prevent the transmissible diseases.

Sonia Valle de la Nuez specialist of the Department of Health Education stressed that in the territory they are working to reduce the transmission rates of the different sexual transmitted diseases and the HIV AIDS.

The teacher said that special attention to smoking and alcoholism is also provided as these are associated with different types of cancer, the leading cause of death in the province and the country.

Valle de la Nuez mentioned that other of the programs in which they offer their work of health education is in the mother-child program due that it presents difficulties in its indicators. Several specialists impart educational talks about the responsible sexuality, the pregnancy in the adolescence, the breastfeeding period and the causes of low birth weight.
