Pelé Asks Messi to Continue Playing for Argentina

London - Former Brazilian footballer, Edson Arantes do Nascimento ''Pelé'' today asked Lionel Messi to reconsider his decision to quit the Argentinean national team.

"It's normal to be sad and disappointed, but he has to wait a bit and forget about this, because it is something that has happened to many very good players. They have all missed a penalty once," said 'O Rei'.

Through statements released today by British Sky Sports, Pelé said he hoped that Messi would listen to him.

"In the last 10 years he has been the best player in the world, no doubt. What has happened to him are things that happen in football. Only the one shooting a penalty can miss it," he said.

Pelé joins millions of fans around the world who have asked the 29 years player to reconsider the decision he took last Sunday after Argentina lost to Chile on penalties in the final of the Copa América Centenario.
