Mexico -The Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD, in Spanish) today has a new national leader, Beatriz Mojica, who assumes the mandate temporarily after the resignation of Augustín Basave, who returns to his legislative duties.
The fact this mandate is temporary confirms that the internal currents, called "tribes" do not agree within a political organization that goes from more to less, and gradually loses its left wing profile, according to their own members and analysts.
Mojica replaces Augustín Basave, who resigned in 2002 the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI, President Enrique Peña Nieto), to assume finally the national leadership of the PRD, in times of crisis that still remain.
On July 13 it could be decided whether Mojica stays in front of the PRD, or another member of the party will take its presidency officially.
Such a decision does not seem not heal the wounds of a party torn among walking alone, make alliances with what is known here as Mexican left wing, or continue in partnership with different organizations.
