Gathered at Havana's Conference Center since Monday July 4th, in 10 commissions or permanent working groups, parliamentarians will also learn from the ministers, what are some of the socio-economic aspects of the country and the territories they represent.
Although today's sessions are dedicated to reports from the agencies of the state central administration, several ministers and officials gave statements to the legislators and the press during the commissions' session yesterday.
Agriculture Minister, Gustavo Rodriguez, explained to parliamentarians yesterday the introduction of new technology and the progress in research centers and universities to implement strategic measures which mitigate the effects of climate change in the sector.
According to Rodriguez, the effect of climate change on crops has meant that working methods must change and priority must be given to implementing these plans.
The Education Minister, Ena Elsa Velazquez, told Prensa Latina that as of the 2017-2018 school year, many Cuban schools will use the first textbooks, methodology and programs resulting from the third improvement of the national education system that has been implemented in the country.
The process, which started in 2009 has several stages and is aimed at general, polytechnic and occupational education from early childhood to high education.
More than 60 educational institutions from six provinces are experiencing the changes.
During the opening session of the permanent groups, Economy and Planning Minister, Marino Murillo, informed the Economic Affairs Commission of the main characteristics of this sector's performance in the first semester of 2016.
According to the minister, the economic results in that period has been marked by a complex context in which a fall in oil, nickel prices and income in general has caused a lack of liquidity.
The sessions of the Cuban Parliament will conclude tomorrow with a plenary session. There, parliamentarians will present a summary of the main statements discussed during the work of each commission.
