Washington - Republicans in the United States House of Representatives are searching for additional ways to affect the presidential changes of possible Democratic presidential nominee, Hilary Clinton.
The Republican Party has called on senior government officials to conduct hearings to review the investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) into the use of the private email server of former Secretary of State.
On Thursday, FBI Director James Comey will testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, just two days after he refused to recommend that federal prosecutors bring charges against Clinton
Republicans also plan, next Tuesday, to call upon the Attorney General, Loretta Lynch to answer questions posed by members of the House Judiciary Committee. They will address her in a session that will potentially focus on the case, which is shaping up as a desperate effort by Republicans to further affect the possible Democrat nominee.
Although the investigation has been seen from the beginning as politicized, Republican lawmakers say that the recommendation on Tuesday not to file criminal charges is the culmination of the politicization of the justice system.
The State Department's general inspectors and the federal intelligence community have also been invited to the hearing, although it is unclear whether they will appear at such short notice.
Meanwhile, Democrats and Clinton's defenders believe that the investigation is a witch hunt, politically motivated and intended to distract the public from Donald Trump, who is today on Capitol Hill to meet with Republicans in the House and Senate.
