Cuban U20 world triple jump champion to repeat title in Poland

Trying to repeat his title, Cuban triple jumper Lazaro Martinez will attend the U20 World Athletics Championships, to be held from July 19 to 24, in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Martinez, who won the in the previous edition of Eugene, United States, with 17.13 meters, will lead the list of 14 Cuban representatives that will compete on Polish soil.
The also 2013 cadet universal champion will attempt to demonstrate once again his talent and potential in a specialty in which a future full of triumphs has been augured to him.
Two years ago, on American soil, Cuba won one gold and four silver medals and finished ninth in the overall standings.
In that tourney, it also had 11 finalists for a total of 57 points, appearing also ninth.
Achieving similar performance or improving it will be the goal of Cuban athletes in Bydgoszcz; contest also attended by triple jumpers Cristian Naples and Davisleidis Velazco, and hammer thrower Ayamey Medina.
The group also includes long jumpers Maikel Masso and Juan Miguel Echevarria, high jumper Luis Enrique Zayas, Roxana Gomez (women’s 400m), Arletys Thaureaux (women’s 800m), as well as the decathletes Santiago Ford and Rafael Noguera.
The list is completed by short hurdler Yoan Villa, javelin thrower Marisleisys Duarthe and Adriana Rodriguez (heptathlon), confirmed the National Athletic Commission.
