Additional Privatizations in Brazil

The acting president of Brazil, Michel Temer, stated that his government is planning to privatize two airports which are located in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro cities that get the highest quantity of national flights in order to allegedly reduce the nation´s budget deficit.

Right this year, it was planned to submit some tenders for the privatization of the airports from Porto Alegre from Rio Grande do Sul city and Florianópolis from Santa Catarina city, both of them are located to the south of that nation.

Likewise, that list includes the airport from Salvador in Bahia city and the one from Fortaleza in Ceará, both of them are located in the north east region.

More Privatizations

As for Temer, there could be more privatizations. The president of the economic budget pointed out that it was going to be necessary a series of expenses reductions and increasing the tax collection, along with the sale of assets, privatizations and more granting and taxes by his economic team.

The Brazilian economic stop growing 3.8% last year and the related predictions about the market show a similar withdrawal this current year by confirming the economic recession that nation is going through at this moment.

The plan, according to a document that is used by the new administration and announced recently by O Globo TV network channel, is to transfer all what could be possible into the private sector.

The report of 17 pages, which is entitled ´Social journey, ´ emphasizes about the allegedly need in terms of establishing a “new beginning of the State relation and the private enterprises” by looking for some granting and establishing some public and private collaborations, according to vision by Temer and his team that is all about a basic private initiative to escape from the “higher economic crisis of the history.”

As part of the same line of thought, the Brazilian National Confederation has elaborated a list with 36 measures considered as “essential ones” to take out the nation from the crisis and they include the reform of the domestic retirement pension system and working laws and creating mechanisms for the control of the public expense and speeding up the granting process in the oil and gas sector.
