A documentary that shows the life of one of the most unforgettable myths of Hollywood is among the many film proposals being carried out by the local Proyecto 23 of the Cuban Institute of Art and Cinematographic Industry this current local summer. We are referring to the film entitled´ I am Steve Mac Queen.´

The cinematheque of Cuba will be carrying out the showings in the month of August and local summer period.

As it has been told, he never used doubles for the high-risk scenes and he used to drive bikes and cars at a great speed.

Shortly after he escaped from a reformatory, where he was due to his then ´rebel behavior´, he joined the army in 1947.

Five years later, he hardly passed the tests for taking lessons at the prestigious Actor´s Studios that was then directed by Lee Strasberg.

The movie included him a year later through the film entitled’ Somebody Up there likes me´, but he began to be visible through the terror film entitled’ the fog´ (1958).

After that, he worked in the films entitled ´The seven magnificent´(1960), ´the great escape´ (1963), ´the king of gamble´ (1965), ´the Yangsé in fire´ (1966), ´the Thomas Crawn case´(1968), ´Bullet´ (1968), ´the flight´(1972), ´Papillon´ (1980), ´Hell in the tower´(1974) and the one entitled ´ hired hunter´ (1980) that was his last full-length film.

Steve Mac Queen, who was nominated twice to the Oscar prize in 1966 and 1988, could not achieve it. He was born in 1930 and passed away in 1980 when he was just 50 years old.
