Since the beginning of this year, there have been many institutions of the Cuban Public Health Ministry (MINSAP) which have been under a refurbishing and maintenance process.

On the occasion of the recent 63rd anniversary of the attack to the local Moncada and Carlos Manuel Céspedes barracks and the 90th anniversary of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, there have been some works that have been finished in different centers of Havana city.

One of them, it is the local health center that is located in Plaza municipality. It covers over 900 patients as it is stated by its nurse, Miriam Marín Carmot, who has been 16 years providing the related health care to the neighbors of that region and she states that the population feel pleased with that result.

“A really hard work was carried out in that polyclinic and the population has worked a lot. The Public Health Ministry and that center has worked together on that refurbishing work and its furniture. The local population feels really pleased about all what have been done, including its painting. It has even donated some plants for the polyclinic. They feel really happy given this is center with a high demand by the population and there are many related workplaces and ministries. We are feeling very pleased.”

The nurse Miriam Marín Carmot, who had dedicated all her career to the local family doctor and nurse program, commented.

Other of the centers which have been benefitted with this refurbishing and maintenance process in the capital was the drugstore that is part of the Rampa polyclinic in Plaza municipality. This center was over two years closed by constructive problems, so it was a request made by the population from that zone. That drugstore, which will provide a 24-hour service, reopens completely refurbished and all its furniture even utterly new.

“The local Hermanos Amejeiras Hospital, which is a national reference center, has already many related works completely concluded and they include, for example, some services of general surgery, ophthalmology, intensive care, among others. Moreover, its oncological area has been refurbished not only in terms of its space but also the comfort of its different wards.”

“In addition, the hospital has acquired this year new technologies and that is to say the most important equipment even for the interventionist cardiology. There have been some ultrasound and ultrasound scan equipment which have been installed, including a PET-CT and EXPECT-CT equipment are being installed, and they provide us an important support for the diagnosis and treatment of important diseases that affect the local population such cancer, the cardiovascular and brain ones which are the most frequent ones and the main causes of death in the nation.” Doctor Juan Carlos Rodríguez Vázquez, who is the vice director of teaching and researching of that hospital, pointed out.

These are three examples only about some health centers that are part of the three local health levels which are refurbished and being under maintenance in order to offer the necessary conditions to their workers and patients and a related healthcare service that achieve much better health parameters and results.
