Venezuela-China Joint Commission to Discuss Cooperation Strategies

Caracas - The 5th China-Venezuela High Level Joint Commission is being held in Caracas with the aim of assessing strategic alliances in the development of both nations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated today.

The meeting, which will continue tomorrow, will focus on the mechanisms of cooperation in different economic, political and social fields.

The meeting's agenda was reviewed at a previous meeting between Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Delcy Rodriguez, and the Chinese ambassador to Caracas, Zhao Bentang, according to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs press release.

Both diplomats assessed cooperation between the two countries. They have signed more than 300 agreements in areas such as energy, oil, education, health, technology, trade, house construction, agricultural industry, agriculture, infrastructure, culture and sports.

The headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - the Yellow House in Caracas - hosts the event. The activity was led last year by Vice President of Planning, Ricardo Menendez, who chairs the commission.

Venezuela and China have been strengthening ties of cooperation for 15 years, a relationship that was promoted by the former President Hugo Chavez.
