Argentine President Is More Involved in Offshore Companies

Buenos Aires - More revelations about the offshore societies of Argentine President Mauricio Macri in Panama and the Bahamas can further complicate the statesman''s legal situation.

Based on information that came to light recently, the national deputy of the Front for Victory (FpV), Dario Martinez, will expand his two lawsuits before Prosecutor Federico Delgado.

In Brazil, there are leads that allow exploring the route of nine million dollars exchanged among his several societies of all kind: Argentinean, Brazilian and ghost companies based in Panama or the Bahamas. For the first time, three other companies linked to his firm Fleg Trading Ltd come to light.

'The Macri Group was established in Brazil in 1995 and operated until at least 2007,' the lawmaker recalled. 'They designed a web of societies based on a firm created in the Bahamas, Fleg Trading Ltd., which is just at the heart of the prosecutor's investigation,' said Martinez, adding that he will request that President Mauricio Macri and Fleg Trading Ltd Director Mariano Macri be subpoenaed to explain the origin of the money used to buy Socma Americana's participation in Owners do Brasil.

According to the new revelations, Fleg bought 99.9 percent of Owners do Brasil Participacoes Ltda's social capital, the article said.

Owners, that is, Fleg, appears as a stockholder in the three societies that had not been under investigation in Argentina. The companies' names are Itron do Brasil, Martex do Sul and Mega Consultoría Servicios e Participacoes.
