President Maduro praises social programs in Venezuela

Caracas - On September 7, Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro praised the results of social programs Robinson and Barrio Adentro, launched by the country’s former President Hugo Chávez (1954-2013) and implemented by the Bolivarian government.

We are launching a new phase - Misión Barrio Adentro 100%, with a renewed concept and evoking the principles which gave birth to this comprehensive community medical care initiative, wrote Maduro on his Facebook page.

Chávez always believed it was necessary to prioritize community work, to reorganize and optimize the public health system, based on preventative care and with all the necessary supplies, equipment, and professionals for the well-being of the people, he added.

In this sense, the Head of State highlighted the “fundamental support of our Cuban brothers,” in every one of the programs that have helped to improve the lives of countless Venezuelans over the last 17 years.

He went on to note that the Bolivarian Revolution will continue to make social investments in order to advance with the construction of health clinics, diagnostic and comprehensive rehabilitation centers, as well as the training of doctors.

Meanwhile, Maduro - also president of United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) - recalled that on September 7, 2003, Chávez saw the first 100,000 Venezuelans who learned to read and write through the Misión Robinson program, graduate.

That is how one of the greatest emancipatory feats of our time began, by breaking the chains of illiteracy, always with the collaboration of the sister Republic of Cuba, he reiterated.

Meanwhile, the Venezuelan people reaffirmed their commitment to peace and stability with nationwide marches held September 7, reported AVN.
