Buenos Aires - The book ''De La Higuera a Chile. El Rescate'' by Cubans Adys Cupull and Froilan Gonzalez, about the survivors of the Che guerrilla movement in Bolivia, has been launched in Argentina.

The authors and the director of the Cienflores publishing house that publish and distribute the book, Maximiliano Thibaut, launched it last night at the Eva Peron Auditorium in the Buenos Aires the venue of the Association of State Workers.

Due to his revolutionary spirit, Ernesto Che Guevara is the focus of attention, but few people know that once captured and killed on October 9, 1967 in the jungle town of La Higuera, a small group of his fighters managed to outwit the siege the army had laid, Thibaut said.

Following Che's death, the survivors of the last attack were ruthlessly persecuted and executed. Only Cubans Pombo, Urbano and Dario, and Bolivians Inti and Ñato managed to escape from the thousands of armed men who attacked the area.

The book reveals the shocking journey the five survivors carried out. They managed to save their lives and appeared many months later in a Chilean Andean region thanks to the help of Bolivian friends, the editor said.

The three Cubans returned to Cuba on March 7the, 1968. The two Bolivian inspired by Che's example, continued the armed struggle and later died in combat.
