Golden Ball Will Have a New Formula in Next Edition

Bern - A new formula will come into force to select the winner of the Golden Ball next year, after the cancellation of the agreement between the French weekly France Football and the International Football Federation (FIFA) announced today.
The contractual agreement between FIFA and the publication ended in January. We have warned France Football in early August that the contract will not be renewed, said FIFA in a statement.
As a result, the award must return in the current issue to its old system, when it was granted following a vote by journalists, while players (captains of national teams) and coaches no longer vote.
However, the footballing entity clarified that continue for his rewarding the best players and players with the traditional FIFA World Player part, though probably change its nomenclature.
Details on the name of these awards and the place and date that will be delivered will be announced later, the agency said.
Since the agreement in 2010 between FIFA and the specialized weekly only two players have been awarded: Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, which had raised many criticisms.
There are suspects that, in a way, is a grudge match holder of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, since FF was very critical of the then president of UEFA, Michel Platini, his mentor.
The truth is that now the gala magazine has little time to regroup and, above all, find a sponsor, because the high costs of organizing the pompous Gala awards were borne by the footballing body since 2010.
