Japan and Cuba Sign Agreement on Reorganization of Debt

The Vice-president of the Cuban Council of Ministers and Minister of Planning and the Economy, Ricardo Cabrisas, received on Monday a Japanese delegation headed by Japan’s ambassador to Havana, Masaru Watanabe.
During the meeting, and as part of the process of implementation of the Multilateral Agreement signed between Cuba and the Ad-Hoc Group of Cuba Creditor Countries in the Paris Club, an accord that regularizes the situation of debts and includes the restructuring pf debt in a medium and long term was signed.
In this way, it has been possible to regularize debt in a medium and long term with 13 of the 14 countries that are members of the Ad-Hoc Group of the Paris Club, which opens new financing opportunities to projects linked to economic and social development plans in Cuba.
The two parties highlighted the positive state of bilateral relations and underlined the potential that exists for their intensification in the economic and commercial sectors and in those of investment and cooperation.
