Luanda - Angolan geologists discovered in the provinces of Huila and Cunene an area of 45 thousand square kilometers of black granite, the largest one covered by that natural Stone in the world, it was known today.
The extension equals the area of several European countries, revealed to the press the minister of Geology and Mines, Francisco Queiroz.
He detailed the zone has a variety of granite among which stands out the black and said that before the country's Independence, in 1975 there were reports about its existence.
The space discovered in national territory is bigger than that considered until now the biggest in the world, located in Canada with about 20 thousand square kilometers.
For Queiroz, the find puts Angola in the map of great geological discoveries. 'We are going to increase exploration and exports of our black granite', he emphasized.
Specialists of the so-called National Plan of Geology (Planageo) claimed the discovery and in the region conditions are prepared for the installation of a support system to production.
The Planageo is a national project that covers one million 240 thousand 700 square kilometers.
The initiative covered about 90 percent of the area in a stage of aerogeophysical uplifting.
According to Queiroz, it is an X-ray which allows to see what there is under the earth surface and the stage is characterized by the deployment of technicians on the field to pick up samples and take them to the laboratory with the aim of evaluating the quality and economic importance.
