The Outstanding Performance by Cuban Paralympic Athletes

Before beginning the XV Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, we made comments about the possibilities of our small sport delegation that was made up of 22 Paralympic competitors and a leader only. We said that we were then expecting a much better performance or a similar one that the one we achieved since four years ago in London city in United Kingdom.

Certainly, the local delegation carried out an outstanding sport performance in that Brazilian city by achieving a higher result than its previous one, given it is necessary to analyze the related behavior of the Cuban athletes even beyond the quantify of gold medals which is the main parameter to establish the nations´ position in the medal table.

In London city, there were nine gold medals and it has been achieved eight at present. However, it is necessary to take into account that the local outstanding athletes like Yunidis Castillo from Santiago de Cuba province was injured and could not repeat her three gold medals from her previous Olympic games, and that would have been a really significant result.

The injures are present in any kind of sport specialty and this time Yunidis Castillo suffered one which prevented her from excelling given she is certainly the best of the world in her sport category.

This way, the related results shown by local athletes such as Ernesto Blanco, Lorenzo Pérez and Dalisdaivis Rodríguez were outstanding ones and reaffirm that the Cuban sport delegation excelled by putting the Cuban sport movement on a high position.
