Paris - France will host an international meeting next week to discuss the situation in Libya, French Foreign Minister, Jean-Marc Ayrault told the Council of Ministers.

According to the government spokesperson, Stephane Le Foll, Ayrault said that the meeting would be held in Paris and would be attended by representatives of various countries in the region such as Egypt, Qatar and Turkey.

'The meeting seeks to discuss ways to boost the unity necessary in Libya, an objective which remains a priority for French diplomacy,' said Le Foll, who did not give details of the date of the meeting.

Le Foll's statement comes a day after the meeting of the Prime Minister of the government of national unity of Libya Fayez al-Sarraj with French President Francois Hollande at the Elysee Palace.

After the meeting, the leaders issued a joint statement confirming the willingness of both sides to national unity and peace and stability in Libya.

In the statement, read by Hollande, Prime Minister Sarraj expressed his willingness to boost the necessary initiatives to strengthen his government and integrate all rival parties who are currently in conflict.
