Namibia's First President Honors Cuba's National Hero

Havana - Sam Nujoma, the founding President of Namibia, will pay tribute here today to Cuba''s National Hero, Jose Marti, as part of his visit to the island.

As planned, the ceremony will take place this morning at the Revolution Square in Havana.

Nujoma began his visit to Cuba on September 27 and will conclude it on Monday, October 3rd.

As part of his program of activities, Cuban President Raul Castro Ruz, met with the distinguished visitor, who also held talks with other Cuban and foreign personalities on the struggle of the developing world for its emancipation.

Nujoma also thanked the Cuban Revolution from the headquarters of the Organization of Solidarity of the Peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America for its unconditional support for the Namibian people in pursuit of their independence and the construction of a prosperous nation.

He also expressed his deep respect and admiration for the historic leader of the Cuban revolutionary process, Fidel Castro.

Nujoma also met with students from his country studying in Cuba and paid tribute to the fallen internationalists in the wars for the independence of African nations.
