Moscow - Russia has denied that a direct confrontation with US forces in Syria is likely, following the suspension of negotiations between both sides seeking a solution to the conflict in the country.

There is an agreement between the two countries to avoid an armed clash, said the spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on a Russian television program.

A hypothetical confrontation between the US and Russia would represent a significant setback in the search for a negotiated solution to the Syrian dispute, said Zakharova.

'Washington changes its mind and positions often, first they said it was important to continue the dialogue with Moscow and just days later it announces it is breaking negotiations with us,' she added.

A plan for a direct military aggression against Syria to be possibly submitted to the White House and US Congress was leaked to local media.

The leak also referred to a preliminary analysis of the plan by the Central Intelligence Agency, the Joint Staff and other organs of power, although it lacks any official confirmation.

Russia demanded that United States apply the provisions of five agreements reached on September 9th in Geneva, including action against Al-Nusra, or its new version and the Islamic State.

Instead of complying with the provisions, including putting pressure on the so-called moderate opposition to end the armed conflict, the United States has accused Russia of being responsible for the rise of violence in Syria.
