Wife of U.S. Vice President Arrives in Cuba Today

Havana - Doctor Jill Biden, wife of US Vice President, arrives today in Cuba heading a delegation to meet with government officials and representatives of the society of the island.
The general director of US Office of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Josefina Vidal, confirmed the visit through her account on the social network Twitter. She said that the visitor will fulfill a program focused on education, health and culture.
Catherine M. Russell, Ambassador at large for global women's issues, and Evan Ryan, Assistant Secretary of the Department of State will accompany Biden, a teacher by profession, for Educational and Cultural Affairs. Late last month the Office of the Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden, announced that her stay would last until October 9, with activities in the provinces of Havana and Camaguey.
Doctor Biden will leave Cuba for the Dominican Republic, where she will hold talks with government officials and representatives of civil society on economic and educational opportunities targeted at women and girls.
For the deputy director general of the US office of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Gustavo Machin, and Biden's visit is a good opportunity to know the reality of this Caribbean nation.

Fidel's presence was recalled in several Ariguanabo centers and institutions. Students from the Eduardo Abela Vocational School of Art, located in San Antonio de los Baños, paid tribute to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, through dance and music.
